Founded in 1937, SPI is the plastics industry trade association representing the third largest manufacturing industry in the United States. SPI's member companies represent the entire plastics industry supply chain, including processors, machinery and equipment manufacturers and raw materials suppliers. The U.S. plastics industry employs 1.1 million workers and provides nearly $379 billion in annual shipments.

Headquartered in Washington, D.C., SPI promotes business development via a suite of commercial services and trade shows, fosters the sustainable growth of plastics in the global marketplace, provides industry representation in the public policy arena and communicates the industry’s contributions to society and the benefits of its products.


EPA Proposes Additional Amendments to Reporting of Greenhouse Gases Rule, Extends Comment Period on Confidentiality Determinations

SPI Executive Board Member Janeczko Donates More than $1 Million for Plastics Scholarships

SPI Executive Board Member Robert Janeczko and his wife Charllotte have pledged in excess of $1 million for plastics engineering scholarships at the University of Wisconsin-Stout (Menomonie, Wis.).  The donation supports the couple's alma mater and helps fortify the future workforce of the plastics industry.

The association is structured to meet the diverse needs of the entire plastics industry.  As SPI prepares for the future, member engagement in formulating strategy, developing priorities and supplying expertise is critical to our success.  From the Executive Board to our three sector Councils (Equipment, Material Suppliers and Processors) and the variety of product/policy committees and self-funded groups, there is a strong foundation already in place to build SPI's new business blueprint.

Senior Director, International Trade
Serve as the organization's primary staff expert on international trade policy, programs, and activities. Advise association staff and membership on the impact of international trade law and regulatory actions, and advocate SPI positions before government officials and other policy makers. Oversee certain U.S. and international economic & statistical programs within the association.

Manager, Government Affairs
Responsible for identifying, monitoring and reporting on legislation and regulations affecting the plastics industry, providing broad support to senior members of the SPI government affairs team, and engaging in direct lobbying. Responsible for certain compliance and reporting duties, and other duties as assigned.
