Title: GRAPHIC DESIGNER, NEW MEDIA

Reports to: Vice President of Communications and Marketing

FLSA Exemption: Exempt

Grade: 7

Office Location: Headquarters, Washington, D.C.

General Summary: To produce visual solutions to meet SPI's marketing needs using a mix of internet-based technology, creative skills and commercial awareness.

Essential Functions: Design, produce and maintain Web pages and marketing pieces, including microsites, blogs, email templates and electronic newsletters. Contribute to SPI's overall Web communications strategy. Create design prototypes, including graphic design, site navigation and layout of content. Perform maintenance and updates to existing websites. Assist with print design projects, including scheduling, vendor communication, cost bidding, quality control and delivery. Provide comprehensive graphics support for internal clients as assigned, from design conception to final text editing of brochures, newsletters, posters, signage, letterhead, invitations, logos and other marketing materials. Provide consultation and recommendations to SPI staff in the areas of design, publications, audio-visual and general graphic needs. Ensure design consistency and quality of association Web sites and printed materials. Other duties as assigned. Have fun in your job.

Job Qualifications: Education: Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts (or equivalent experience). Experience: Two years experience in new media design preferred. Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ideal candidate will have demonstrated technical and creative ability in Web design. B.A. degree in graphic design or related discipline, 2 years experience in web design required. Additional experience in print graphic design preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in Macromedia Dreamweaver and Flash; superior knowledge of web-design trends and techniques with portfolio displaying user-centered design. XHTML, CSS, InDesign and Adobe Creative Suite experience required. Please include design samples with cover letter and resume.


Title: MANAGER, INDUSTRY RELATIONS & COMMUNICATIONS

Reports To: SPI's President & CEO
SPI's Vice President of Communications and Marketing

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Grade: 6

Office Location: Washington, D.C.

General Summary: Seeking a skilled communicator to manage SPI relations with "C-level" industry contacts across the globe as well as edit and produce content targeting key stakeholders in the global plastics industry. Must know how to craft industry news pieces and repackage content for various audiences and media, including magazines, newsletter, and Web.

Essential Functions: Re-invigorate the global plastics industry association, called 'CIPAD': Redo and maintain interactive CIPAD website with input from member organizations to ensure that content is continuously up to date. Write and publish quarterly e-newsletter. Work with the annual meeting host country as required on planning of the meeting and recruitment of attendees. Prepare minutes from all meetings, distribute and post to website. Organize participation and manage Working Group conference calls and activities, taking responsibility for producing all meeting minutes, agendas and meeting materials to participants. Maintain CIPAD membership roster on CIPAD website. Handle member inquiries. Prepare and distribute membership information. Maintain CIPAD files, legal and historic documents, membership and mailing lists. Manage SPI's online commercial portal, myPlasticsindustry.com: Manage and serve as primary liaison with third-party vendors providing news feed content and infrastructure support. Identify and work with site authors to deliver new content sources. Produce promotional copy and partner with SPI Marketing Manager to grow site visitation by 10 percent per month. Maintain liaison with site advertisers. Conduct quarterly visitor surveys. Track and maintain historical Web visitor statistics. Maintain liaison with site advertisers. Manage the packaging, marketing and fulfillment of SPI sponsorship program: Partner with SPI sales team to create multi-year packages and promotional collateral for target audiences. Partner with other departments to manage fulfillment of all packages. Manage production of all signage, give-aways and other branded pieces related to sponsorship program. Maintain liaison with all SPI sponsors. Write news releases, talking points, cover letters to the news media, letters-to-the-editor, op-eds, etc. as assigned. Monitor global plastics industry press for coverage of CIPAD and SPI; track, archive and draft quarterly reports quantifying media coverage. Other: Other duties as assigned. Have fun in your job.

Job Qualifications: Education: Bachelors in communications, pubic relations, English or business. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience at a trade association or corporation. Must have a proven track record in direct marketing and Web-based communication. Experience in project management. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Web content management programs. Knowledge of Photoshop and iMIS database a plus. Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills so to comfortably interface with local, regional, and national--policy makers, as well as corporate executives and community leaders and elected officials. Strong writing and editing skills with an ability to format documents and data in reader-friendly terms. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to manage a project from start through completion. Ability to prioritize and to work on a variety of projects simultaneously. Customer service and team player skills essential. Ability to work independently. Ability to travel and work overtime as needed.


Title: DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Office Location: Headquarters - Washington, D.C.

General Summary: Prime responsibility for maintaining iMIS association management system and Microsoft SQL database environment. Perform system and data diagnostics and work with database consultants as needed to ensure optimum system performance and data integrity of database. Main responsibility for staff training, data mining and report design needs of all staff.

Essential Functions: Perform daily system maintenance of the iMIS association management system. Run data import routines for regular updates, as necessary. Monitor and purge logs and temporary files. Responsible for database table maintenance. Identify user requirements and add new users as needed. Analyze data quality and work with data clerk to ensure reliability and accuracy of data. Report system problems to IT Services. Develop and distribute special ad-hoc reports and queries. Assist SPI staff with setup and maintenance of all front-office functions from the iMIS Web modules, including E-communities, online bookstore and meeting registrations. Review meeting setups to ensure correct setup before registrations are made into the meeting. Work with the Membership and Accounting departments to ensure optimum automation of processes. Support the Communications & Marketing team in monitoring email transmissions through the iNFORMZ publishing software. Partner with IT Services to establish and maintain appropriate database documentation, data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary. Communicate regularly with senior management and operational staff, to ensure the database integrity and security needs of the organization are met. Train SPI employees on software functionality and corporate data standards. Work with staff to develop policies for data entry stylesheets and data accuracy. Work with IT Services to develop and execute processes for database updates and maintenance. Other duties as assigned. Have fun in your job.

Job Qualifications: Education: College degree required. Experience: 3 years of experience working with enterprise databases, particularly in the Microsoft SQL 2000/2005 environment. Practical knowledge of association management systems, particularly iMIS. Crystal Reports experience preferred. Knowledge of ecommerce and web applications preferred. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL 2000/2005 with an established record of database administration. Working knowledge of Web services with emphasis on Cold Fusion. Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be proficient in the use of PC’s and related software. Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work with confidential information. Attention to detail. Ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously. Team and customer service orientation.

Title: COORDINATOR, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY OFFICE

Reports To: Senior Vice President, Science and Technology

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Office Location: Washington, D.C.

General Summary: Assist Senior VP, Science and Technology with the day-to-day operations for the Office as well as for other Business Units, Committees and Task Groups. Assist with planning, developing and implementing Business Unit, Committee and Task Group programs and projects. Plan, organize and implement business unit, Committees and Task Group meetings. Assist the Chief Operating Officer as necessary.

Essential Functions: Administrative and Membership: Assist in monitoring and reporting to members’ issues, which may affect their respective business units, Committees and Task Groups. Assist in the development and recommendation of programs and budgets to respond to industry issues. Assist in the coordinating of Business Unit, Committee and Task Group projects, including communications, technical and marketing projects. Handle member inquiries and responses. Maintain rosters. Prepare and distribute membership kits. Meeting Planning: Coordinate, organize and implement Business Unit, Committee and Task Group meetings within budget, to include: site selection, meeting related communications, meeting logistics, on-site meeting management, negotiate hotel and transportation contracts, all arrangements with designated hotel, all meeting arrangements to include: administrative assistance, preparation of meeting materials, advanced and on-site registration, when necessary. Assist with in-house meetings as needed. Miscellaneous: Provide administrative assistance to SPI’s Chief Operating Officer. Provide back-up support to front desk as needed. Other duties as assigned. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required. Database experience a plus. Ability to work independently, handle multiple assignments simultaneously, prioritize, and meet deadlines. Ability to travel. Must be detail oriented. Must be customer service and team oriented. Excellent interpersonal skills. Two or more years meeting planning experience including site selection and inspection and negotiations preferred.
