SPI at a glance

WELCOME TO SPI!

As a member of The Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc. (SPI), you belong to the largest U.S. plastics industry trade association and the only organization that represents all three major segments of the industry: processors, equipment manufacturers and material suppliers. Membership in SPI gives you a voice in shaping the industry's future and provides a forum for interaction with your fellow industry leaders.

Your membership also entitles you to a wide variety of products and services – many available only to SPI members, or available to members at a deeply discounted cost – that can help you make your business more competitive.

Cost-Savings Programs
SPI offers its members products and services to save them time and money, improve their productivity and enable them to stay competitive in today's increasingly challenging international marketplace at deeply discounted rates verses non-members.

Trade Shows (NPE)
Sponsorship of national and international trade expositions and conferences is one of the outstanding services provided by SPI to the plastics industry. SPI member companies receive a substantial discount on booth space and select booth space before non-members.

Special Interest Groups
SPI's business units and Special Purpose Groups offer opportunities for members to network and pursue programs specific to industry market segments in areas such as bio-pharma applications, food, drug and cosmetic packaging, colors, additives and compounds, plastic film and sheet, structural plastics, fluoropolymers, thermoforming, organic peroxides, epoxy resins, vinyl products, machinery, auxiliary components and moldmaking, occupational health & environmental issues, and much, much, more.

International Trade & Market Entry Assistance
SPI’s Global Business Council (GBC) provides members access to: economic data and statistics; information on international practices/standards; international public policy issues and advocacy; assistance with market entry opportunities, and networking; international association connections and even sponsors trade missions to new and emerging markets.

Occupational Health, Environmental and Product Regulatory Services
SPI's Occupational Health and Environmental Issues Committee (OHEIC) provides members with a forum to: keep abreast of legislative and regulatory activities within agencies such as OSHA and EPA; provide input into the rulemaking process; develop compliance assistance tools and training; network with industry peers and leverage efforts by liaising with other internal and external groups.

Statistical Data on the Plastics Industry
Plastics Data Source is a complete and current economic analysis of the U.S. plastics industry. It furnishes plastics executives with the data they need to grow their business, and provides valuable industry insights for others who watch the nation's fourth largest manufacturing industry. Selected reports are free to SPI members and are available for purchase to non-members.

SPI Newsletters
SPI publishes two biweekly newsletters to keep members informed about important developments affecting the plastics industry: SPI Link and International Trade Update.

Worker Training & Certification
A skilled, knowledgeable and flexible workforce is the key to competitiveness in the global economy. SPI offers a variety of programs and services to assist plastics companies with workforce needs. For example, SPI’s safety training helps protect your workers' health and lives and saves money on insurance, legal and time-loss costs.
