Recycling is Real in Reidsville, North Carolina

Since its founding in 2001, Envision Plastics of Reidsville, North Carolina has produced more than 1.5 billion pounds of recycled plastics. Our most recent Recycling is Real video takes viewers inside the plant to meet some of the people who keep all that plastic in the economy and out of landfills.

“I am proud that my job is part of the sustainability story. It makes you feel good waking up in the mornings knowing that I make a. Difference when I come here to my job,” said Abby Hearp, quality technician. “I wish people knew how much work went. Into it. How many people that it employed, and how many jobs it takes, and different people and knowledge that goes into recycling and working in plastics.”

“I do wish people would recycle more. It would definitely help out the planet, and recycling also gets a lot of jobs to a lot of people,” explained Angie Tart, extrusion operator. “I would tell anybody that says recycling isn’t real to just come down here at Envision and spend the day to see how real it is.” 

Envision Plastics is a great place to work, too. Just ask Betty ‘Miss Betty’ Harrelson. “I’ve worked for Envision Plastics for 21 years. I retired and I came back to work part-time,” she said. “I just love the environment and the people.”

Maintenance technician, Bradley Kendrick, agrees. “We look out for each other and the feeling is amazing. Just the aspect of trying to make the world a better place,” he said. “Recycle as much as possible,” he added. “The more that we do, the better off this world is going to be.”
