Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) is an industry-led campaign, dedicated to helping every plastic resin handling operation prevent plastic resin loss. It is co-managed in the U.S. by the Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) and the American Chemistry Council (ACC).
Recently, four companies have joined the ranks of the elite OCS blue level, which is achieved by exceeding rigorous OCS standards. Those companies are: Quantix SCS, Formosa Plastics Corporation, PSC Group and Sunrise Plastic/Sunrise Services, LLC. Here’s what they had to say about their participation in the OCS initiative:
“Quantix is committed to safety and sustainability, and the OCS blue program allows us to bring further accountability and transparency into our daily business practice,” said Tanya Rogers of Quantix. “We value the opportunity to continue to improve our practices toward minimizing plastic resin loss. OCS blue helps us take this commitment one step further!”
“Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A. is proud to be recognized as an OCS blue member,” Formosa’s Fred Neske said. “We are committed to zero pellet, powder and flake loss from our operations and we work to ensure that the principles of Operation Clean Sweep are embraced throughout our supply chain.”
“As a leading provider of product handling and sustainability services for polymer producers, PSC Group is proud to be an Operation Clean Sweep blue member,” said Chris Lendo, Vice President of Sustainability. “We use the OCS blue standards as a benchmark for how we deliver our services and work together with our customers to help them achieve their sustainability goals. These standards are important to all of us as part of our commitment to reduce waste and promote the circular economic in the plastics industry.”
“Sunrise and our stakeholders share a mutual desire to promote a more sustainable world to pass on to future generations,” said Chris Magnus, President of Sunrise Plastics/Sunrise Services told OCS. “By joining OCS blue, Sunrise hopes to serve the planet as environmental stewards for our communities.”
“Managing Operation Clean Sweep is a source of pride for us. We congratulate our newest blue level members and look forward to learning from and with them,” said Patrick Krieger, Vice President of Sustainability at PLASTICS. “Our industry is committed to eliminating the loss of resin into the environment,” he continued,” and doing that takes coordination throughout the supply chain and the active sharing of best practices. Achieving OCS blue status reflects the sincerity of these organizations as they take a step toward becoming leaders in this mission.”
OCS blue companies are held to a higher standard in their efforts to eliminate plastic resin loss by conducting site audits, increasing employee awareness, and improving equipment, processes and procedures at their facilities.
